I actually thought the Texans would address their defensive needs in some way, shape, or form. They made no effort the first night to trade back into the first round. Who did they get? A quarterback from Stanford- Davis Mills. Who the hell is Davis Mills, I wondered? Here is a quick profile from ESPN about him from their staff writer Sarah Barshop.

I'm not saying anything bad about either one of these young men. Apparently Nice Caserio, Houston's GM, despite saying he isn't at all interested in trading away Deshaun Watson had decided to either put together (A) an insurance policy for Watson or (B) declare the dawn of a new era. With the selection of Mr. Collins, I'm believing Watson's days at Houston or anywhere in the NFL are numbered. The saying goes that actions speak louder than words, and these actions suggest that Houston's ownership has giving their blessing to let Caserio boldly manage this team. In other words, I believe Caserio decided Mills will be his franchise quarterback of the future and then decided he's going to build his team ultimately around Mills. It makes perfect sense to get a weapon for Mills right here.
Therefore, I think the Texans management has decided Deshaun Watson is a lost cause and more importantly a thug regardless of legal or public opinion. Caserio of course, coming from New England, is very much of aware of the fact that Tom Brady was only a 6th round pick in 2000. Perhaps he sees leadership intangibles that Mills might have which resembles Brady. We will find out more clues if my suspicions are right as the Texans make their remaining selections later today in the final rounds of the draft.
The Dallas Cowboys in contrast so far have gone entirely defensive in contrast. This isn't surprising since their defensive unit was considered by many to be the weakest link in the team. But many others were expecting Jerry Jones to go wheeling and dealing for an offensive weapon and try to make a serious effort to move up from #10 to try to get a player like TE Kyle Pitts. Pitts was actually selected by the Falcons as the #4 pick in the first round. Instead, the Cowboys decided to swap picks with the Eagles and go down to #12 selecting Micah Parsons. The Eagles gave the Cowboys a 3rd round pick.
